Calling all Knitters and Crocheters ... !
We're organizing a knit-in at Childreach, to knit and crochet as many purple hats for newborns as we can.

INFO ABOUT THE CAUSE ...
Here's the information about the "Click for Babies" program.
The Trauma program at London Health Sciences Centre’s Children’s Hospital is recruiting knitters to help raise awareness about Shaken Baby Syndrome. Interested knitters are being asked to knit or crochet purple baby caps in any pattern or shade of purple, and to not include strings, pom-poms or wool on the baby caps.
The caps will be provided to parents and caregivers, in support of The Period of PURPLE Crying® program, which provides important information to parents and caregivers regarding infant crying patterns and comforting strategies, and education on Shaken Baby Syndrome.
“The Period of PURPLE Crying® is the phrase used to describe the point in a baby’s life when they cry more than any other time,” says Denise Polgar, injury prevention specialist, LHSC. “We want everyone to know that crying is normal and that it is never okay to shake or harm an infant.”

INFO ABOUT THE KNIT-IN EVENT ...
* Anyone is welcome - experienced or 'newbies'.
* We'll be in the playroom, so bringing children is fine.
* There's always tea, coffee and juice boxes available at Childreach, and we're looking into organizing pizza. Feel free to bring additional snacks, if you like.
* There will be simple patterns available, but feel free to bring your own too.
* If you don't have needles or hooks, there will be spares available!
* We have some purple yarn available, and we're working on getting more. If you have purple yarn (any shade), please bring some, and we'll be very happy to accept donations of more!
* If you can't make it on this date, but would like to help, feel free to make hats in your own time and take them to the hospital, Health Unit, Childreach, or anyone who's attending this event!
